Windmill Park Centre wins public vote in TV competition
They haven't stopped celebrating in Southall since they heard the news.
Windmill Park Community Centre won the People's Millions public vote and has been awarded a £50,000 grant to help transform the site.
Thousands gave their support in the competition which is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund and ITV.
The cash will be used to transform a disused shower room into a multi-use space with a recording studio, IT suite, space for arts and crafts, ESOL lessons, and CV training.
Organisers and local residents are naturally delighted.
Wilbur Yankey, Community Development Officer for Catalyst Communities Housing Association said:
“The cash will make a huge difference to the community.''
Ollie Hall, Windmill Park resident said:
"It is amazing that we won the cash, this is the best thing that has happened to Windmill Park.''
Older resident, Mrs Sihra said:
"I'm very happy with Windmill Estate and the plans for the Community Centre and still buzzing from the excitement of the presentation of the cheque, I'm very happy!"
