Palestine is Still The Issue

Pre election meeting in Ealing

Friday April 23rd at 7pm

St. Mary's Church Polygon,
St. Mary's Rd.
Ealing W5 5RH
(Ealing Broadway(District/Central) or S.Ealing (Piccadilly) stations or 65 bus)

Presented by West London PSC (Palestine Solidarity Campaign).

Prospective parliamentary candidates for the marginal seat of Ealing Central & Acton have been invited to take part in a pre-election debate on one of the world's most intractable foreign policy issues: Palestine.

The West London branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has invited the candidates of the four main parties to give their own personal views - and not necessarily those of their parties - on what foreign policy strategies the next government should adopt to help bring about a solution to the 60-year-old conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

Possible topics for discussion include: settlement expansion, the continued blockade of Gaza, the assassination of a Hamas official by Mossad in Dubai, Government plans to change the law on the arrest of suspected war criminals who visit the UK, the EU trade agreement with Israel, and the destruction of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.

A public meeting in Hammersmith with Foreign Secretary David Miliband showed there was a huge amount of local interest in these issues and this was also born out by the high attendance at the recent election meeting in Hammersmith on the issue of Palestine

With a general election just weeks away, Ealing Central & Acton is a new constituency with figures that suggest it will be one of the closest three -way marginals in the country; it is expected to be a lively meeting.

The debate will be followed by questions and comments from the audience.

Speakers invited:

Jon Ball - Lib Dem candidate for Ealing Central & Acton
Angie Bray - Conservative candidate for Ealing Central & Acton
Sarah Edwards - Green candidate for Ealing Central & Acton
Bassam Mahfouz - Labour candidate for Ealing Central & Acton

The meeting will be chaired by Salim Alam, West London PSC's chairperson.
