Crackdown on street drinking targeting shops
An off-licence in Hanwell has lost its licence after police uncovered a number of problems.
They produced evidence to the council review hearing (on 29th April) showing the Nest Off-Licence on the Uxbridge Road in W7 had continued to sell to drunken street drinkers - police had also seized counterfeit, non duty paid alcohol and tobacco products.

Earlier this year, four other premises were brought before the sub-committee resulting in the prevention of sales of high strength alcohol and the sales of single cans.

              Inspector Andrew Deane said:

“Our licensing unit are committed to reducing the level of street drinking and associated anti social behaviour. The action taken today forms part of a wider strategy to address community concerns. Premises found flouting their license conditions and breaking the law will be brought before the licensing sub-committee and face the consequences of a full review."
The crackdown follows community concerns surrounding street drinking on the borough.
