Car driver found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence
A Northolt man who crashed his car has been found guilty of killing a pensioner on her way to hospital to receive dialysis treatment.
Police were called to reports of a collision in Greenford Road, near the junction with Green Park Way, Southall, in the early hours of Wednesday 7 September 2011.
The crash was between a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a white Volkswagen Crafter - a hospital patient transport vehicle.
London Ambulance Service took Phyliss Tamkai, 85- a passenger in the hospital transport vehicle - to a west London hospital with injuries but she later died.
Nejdet Pirgali, 54 of Attewood Road, was found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence and causing death by careless driving, following a trial at Isleworth Crown Court.
The judge sentenced Pirgali to 12 months imprisonment for manslaughter and 12 months imprisonment for causing death by careless driving - sentences to run concurrently
He was also banned from driving for 12 months.
