Local Man Heads NHS Ealing

West Ealing resident Timothy Hughes to continue in role

A local resident has been reappointed as a Non-executive Director of the Board of NHS Ealing for a further four years from April 1.

Mr Timothy Hughes, who lives in West Ealing, is chief executive of Yarrow Housing, a housing association operating across West London that specialises in support services for people who have learning disabilities and complex needs.

Mr Hughes, who is also Vice Chair of the NHS Ealing Board, has worked in the voluntary sector with homeless and badly-housed people and in local government housing.

NHS Ealing commissions healthcare in the borough, including services from GPs, dentists, hospitals, district nurses, health visitors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, as well as specialist and mental health services.

Mr Hughes does not hold any other ministerial appointments and has not declared any involvement in political activity in the last five years. His appointment has been made in accordance with the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments' code of practice. Non-executive directors receive remuneration of £7,882 a year.

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity to be made public.
