Mayor Mohinder Midha does the honours for facility close to her heart

The Mayor of Ealing, Cllr Mohinder Midha, has a special place in her heart for Ealing Hospital after officially opening its new Cath Lab which will carry out up to a 1,000 investigative procedures a year.
The borough has one of the highest incidences of heart disease in the country and the new lab will mean patients no longer having to be transferred to Northwick Park for treatment offering a faster more convenient service.
The state-of-the-art lab, which cost more than £1m, is a far cry from the hospital’s original lab which was housed on the back of an articulated truck.
Professor Stuart Rosen said, “Ealing has a history of pioneering work involving cardiology and this is a real asset to the community. It will help us provide equality of care across north-west London and ensure patients benefit from the latest treatments. “
The Mayor’s chosen charity is HeartLink, providing advice and support to people living with heart conditions, especially those undergoing or recovering from hospital treatment.
The group, which work in partnership with the hospital, was originally set up with the support of Ealing cardiologist Jaspal Kooner who saw the value of a support network outside hospital.
