Family of Malcolm 'Tiger' Hackett Send Thanks To Ealing

Locals who attended funeral service described as ' lovely genuine people'

The family of a much loved local man who died before Christmas have sent their thanks to the ' wonderful people' from the Ealing community for their support.

Malcom Hackett who was 87 and known by many for his regular appearances in the area with his 'tiger' bike, suffered a heart attack on the South Ealing Road on the evening of Saturday 17th December.

Following the news of his death many locals expressed their sadness and his family invited the community to pay their last respects at a service at Christ The Saviour in Ealing Broadway last month.

Mal's nephew, William Bassett has written:

'' My family and I wish to thank Ealing Today for highlighting the sudden death and funeral arrangements of our uncle Malcolm.

''We would also like to thank Fr Simon Cuff for his beautiful mass and sermon. He made the whole experience meaningful which we will never forget. Thanks to Haven Funeral Services, their staff and in particular Chris. They went above and beyond what any other funeral director could organise, The whole funeral was planned with Chris from Ireland and I'm sure at times Chris wondered what he got involved in.

''Finally, we wish to thank the wonderful people who attended the funeral. We had so little time to speak to them as we had an appointment at the crematorium. However in that short period of time they made a lasting impression on us. They gave us a great insight into our uncles life. Some cried as they related their story. They were such lovely genuine people. We usually travelled to London once a year to visit our uncle, however as a result of the wonderful people we have met don't be surprised if you see us at mass in Ealing.

We intend to continue to visit Ealing and hopefully met up again with my uncles friends.
