Colourful New Restaurant Brings A Latin America Vibe To Ealing

Las Iguanas opens its doors in the town centre

It might have been snowing and miles and miles away from the warmth of Brazil, but somehow, Ealing was transported for a night.

Replacing Bill's, which closed 14 sites after the pandemic hit trading, the new Las Iguanas restaurant and cocktail bar is a vibrant addition to New Broadway and I was delighted to be invited to try it out in its early opening days.

The venue has had a massive makeover and is now a totally different experience to the previous foodie occupant.

It features tropical green plant walls and fabulous murals by artist @elnart, part of the London based WOM Collective (www.womcollective.org) inspired by the urban landscape of Brazil.

Celebrating authentic flavours of Latin America, guests are offered a large menu with an array of choices and some great deals including Las Iguanas Bottomless Brunch (which is bookable seven days a week) and 2for1 cocktails all day every day.

We immediately gave a thumbs up to the cocktails - having had a special lesson by one of the friendly bartenders, we enjoyed the signature Caipirinha using Las Iguanas’ own '' Magnifica Cachaça'' - a spirit distilled near Rio de Janeiro.

The menu features something for everyone, with classics from Mexico, Brazil and beyond, including stacked-up Fajitas sizzling in a spice mix, the Copacabana Burger - a buttermilk-marinated spicy chicken breast with Emmental and pink pickled onions, held together in a toasted brioche bun; and the classic North Brazilian curry, Xinxim - chicken and crayfish in a creamy lime and peanut sauce cooked in-house.

Calamari starter

After a huge calamari starter ( enough for two) I was pleased to see an extensive Veggie, Vegan and Plant Based menu with choices from vegan Taco Sharing Boards with jackfruit, mushroom and chilli toppings to Moqueca de Palmitos, a classic Brazilian curry served up in a bespoke terracotta pan.

I chose the Bahian Jackfruit Curry - a tasty main, and my friend was very pleased with the Shellfish Moqueca. Portion sizes are large and the food very flavoursome.

Lewis Poucher, Operations Manager at Las Iguanas, said, “We’re delighted to be bringing our iconic flavours of Latin America to Ealing. We hope we’ll quickly get to know everyone and see them dropping in regularly to try some of our delicious dishes, sip cocktails in the bar, bring friends for Bottomless Brunch, or use Las Iguanas to celebrate life’s good bits''

The restaurant was busy, staff helpful and friendly and such a buzzy fun atmosphere with great music playing, it felt like being on holiday!

I hope Las Iguanas can keep this upbeat vibe and wish them every success for their new Ealing venture.
