W13 Mum Shortlisted for Top Blogging Prize

Katie's foodie chat is one to savour

Katie Bryson, a Mum two from Northfields, has reached the finals of a prestigious national awards scheme for parent bloggers.

The Mum and Dad (MAD) Blog Awards, sponsored by Parentdish.co.uk, celebrate the best blogs written by British parents. The competition is now in its second year and is supported by companies including Morrisons, Early Learning Centre and TalkTalk.

Katie's blog, Feeding Boys and a Firefighter has been shortlisted for the Best Food Blog category, which recognises bloggers who rustle up fantastic family meals and share their tips, shopping lists and recipes with their readers.

Katie Bryson is a freelance food writer and blogger. She left her career at the BBC to immerse herself in the culinary world, taking in courses at Leiths School of Food and Wine and an internship at Waitrose along the way.

Her family food blog is bursting with recipes and tips for feeding hungry families. She lives in Northfields with her two young boys and yes, her firefighter husband.

Katie said: “I’m really chuffed to have reached the finals of the MAD Blog Awards. Writing the blog has allowed me to experiment with the food I make for my boys, but it's also allowed me to share my experiences with fellow mums and dads.

“I try to be a welcoming fellow family cook rather than a highbrow foodie and keep my recipes as achievable and approachable as possible.”

More than 3,000 people have already nominated their favourite parent blogs in 15 different categories, with five blogs reaching the finals in each group. Blog fans now have just four weeks to vote for their favourite blogs at the MAD Blog Awards website at www.the-mads.com

The winners of the MAD Blog Awards will be announced in September 2011.
