Local MP Demands Reassurances Over Ealing Hospital Future

Meeting planned with Health Secretary

Ealing Southall Labour MP Virendra Sharma has set up urgent meetings with Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham MP and Ealing PCT to get to the bottom of fears that there are NHS London plans to close Ealing Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department and other services.

Commenting on the leaked North West London Commissioning Partnership strategic plan Virendra Sharma MP said:

“The local community want clear assurances about the future of Accident and Emergency and other services at Ealing Hospital and I am determined to get to the bottom of what lies behind these leaked reports.

“NHS London claim that there are no firm proposals to change hospital services in NW London and that the document represents an early dialogue with NHS London but I am very concerned when I hear Dr Ash, Chair of Ealing Hospital’s medical staff committee describing the ‘concept as dangerous, alarming and unacceptable.’

“If these plans ever see the light of day I will fight them every step of the way but at this stage people need to keep cool heads and not whip up unnecessary fears in the community until we know whether these plans are real or not.”
