Ealing Remembers The Holocaust


Ceremony open to the public tomorrow

A tree will be plante outside Perceval House tomorrow (Friday 25th January) to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The event is held annually to remember all those around the world who lost their lives as a result of acts of genocide.

Ealing’s Mayor, Councillor Mohammad Aslam and Leader of the Council, Councillor Julian Bell will plant a memorial tree outside its Perceval House offices at 11am, followed by a minute’s silence.

The tree planting ceremony is open to all members of the public. Holocaust Memorial Day actually takes place on 27 January each year and this year marks the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp in south-west Poland.

The tree will be planted in remembrance of all the victims of the Nazi Holocaust and all other victims of persecution, genocide and torture around the world, including those in Armenia, Assyria, Cambodia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Rwanda and Darfur.

Councillor Bell, said: ''Ealing is a vibrant and diverse borough. Holocaust Memorial Day is an opportunity to show that we will not tolerate discrimination or persecution as well as remember the victims of atrocities.''
