Heritage Quarter Lighting Project Complete

Next phase is Pitzhanger Manor restoration

A £800,000 programme to install new antique-style lighting in the borough’s newly created Heritage Quarter has been completed.

Work has also been carried out to upgrade the main shopping area in Northfield Avenue, including hanging baskets, additional cycle stands, heritage style bins and new trees.

The next phase of the Heritage Quarter project is the restoration of Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery. The council has already consulted residents to find out how they think the house and grounds could be improved and those ideas have been passed on to a team of architects drawing up plans for the site. The council has committed more than £3m to the project and is through to the second round of bidding for £1.7m more from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Councillor Jason Stacey, Leader of Ealing Council, said:

“We promised a new lease of life for one of Ealing’s most prestigious areas when plans to create a Heritage Quarter were announced.

“The new street lighting, hanging baskets and additional trees have really helped to enhance the character of the area, so I’m pleased we are making good on our commitment.”
