Brett Ewins has appeared before magistrates

A 56-year-old comic book artist from Hanwell has been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm with intent following an incident last month.

Brett Ewins, of Cowper Road, who worked on titles including Judge Dredd and Bad Company, was injured when he was arrested early on Saturday 14th January.

A police officer received stab wounds during the incident.

Ewins appeared today, Thursday 9 February, at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court charged with GBH with intent.

He has been remanded into custody to appear on 17 February at Isleworth Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

The police watchdog - the IPCC are conducting an independent investigation into police contact with Ewins during this incident.
