Hanwell Garage to House Application Refused

Councillors reject plans for contemporary self build house

Ealing council has turned down an application to demolish garages and build a house in their place in Olde Hanwell.

The Planning Committee met last night (Weds 24th) having conducted a site visit since they last discussed the possible development.

The application, by a resident of St Marks Rd, was for a contemporary, self build two storey house.

Objectors claimed the house would overlook gardens in nearby houses and was "overbearing".

Local neighbour James Graham said: '' It’s a big relief. If this had gone ahead, many other garages in Ealing and Hanwell could have been converted. The proposed building was completely out of character with the area.''
