Hairspray JR!

A lively, energetic, fun and colourful production from Questors Youth

If you fancy a breath of fresh air and a break from all the worries of the world currently, get yourself to Ealing's top theatre.

Hairspray JR is the abridged version of the West End hit musical set in Baltimore in the 60s and is packed full of great songs, dance routines and a bigger message about the power to change.

This shortened version (just over an hour) doesn't have enough time to deal with the full story of the American Civil Rights Movement and the battle to fight racial discrimination and segregation, but the message is there and comes across loud and clear with some great performances.

All credit to everyone behind this show, just a few names to mention ( from a much larger production team) Director, Hannah Webster, Assistant, Rory Hobson, Musical Director, Dave Roberts and Choreographer Sarah Page. A lot of hard work has gone into this - but a lot of fun too!

Well done to the costume designer Shaan Latif-Shaikh and the wardrobe team (who very rarely get mentioned in reviews!) - some beautiful outfits which complimented the impressive set, constructed by Kingston College BTEC Production Arts students.

It's no mean feat producing a show with over 40 members of Questors excellent youth theatre. And as for the performers...wow!

There was some real talent on that Questors stage - undoubtedly a great start for any youngster with West End ambitions. The main roles were spot on - some impressive, strong voices and a great sense of comedy too - I'd suggest any theatrical agents reading this come and visit Ealing asap and snap up some of these performers before they become too famous!

I have to applaud the whole cast though as every single one of them has worked hard and made this a joyous show.

Do go and see it this week (it finishes Saturday 7th March) - believe me you'll forget all your woes and come out with a smile on your face and a skip in your step.

Well done once again Questors!
