There's expected to be widespread disruption on the transport network this morning after torrential downpour overnight.

The Medway Underpass on the eastbound section of the A40 at Perivale has been closed this morning due to flooding. Transport For London say contractors are at the scene dealing with the incident (6am).

Meanwhile London Fire Brigade is urging evetyone to only cause 999 in emergency after reporting one of their busiest nights.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said; "Crews are being mobilised to incidents as quickly as possible but the Brigade is appealing to people to only call 999 in an emergency - where there is a risk to life or property.

"Between around 0130 and 0300 our control officers took over three hundred calls – around as many as they would receive in an average day.

"Most of the 999 calls received have been to weather related incidents, with firefighters attending reports of flooded commercial and domestic properties, flooded roads and vehicles that have been trapped by flood water. Crews have also attended a number of calls to reports of property being struck by lightning."

The weather related incidents initially affected the south west of the capital but as the storm continued, calls have been received from across the whole of London.
