What Will You Do For Ealing?

Questions put to local candidates

Save Ealing’s Centre, (SEC) has posed a series of questions to candidates who are standing in wards around the town centre in a bid to glean opinions on crucial local issues.

SEC was established in 2007 to provide an organised voice for the local Ealing community in response to a series of major development proposals.

This non-political alliance of 25 residents groups from Hanwell to Acton arranged the recent packed public meeting in the Town Hall

The following nine questions have been put to candidates - with a yes or no reply:

Will you work with Ealing residents on a strategy for Ealing that takes account of everybody’s objectives?

Will you work with Ealing residents on a strategy for Ealing that takes account of everybody’s objectives?

Should the design of new buildings in Ealing reflect and respect the remaining Victorian and Edwardian Buildings?

Should building heights relate to the height of nearby buildings, particularly listed buildings?

Do you support the application which council officers have opposed to protect Haven Green by according it the status of a Village Green?

Would you support another attempt to build a bus station on Haven Green?

Would you support a development of the Arcadia site if it conflicts with reports by the Planning Inspector or English Heritage?

Do you think Ealing Council is best placed to coordinate the different transport operators by preparing a plan for Ealing Broadway Transport Interchange?

Are enough community and leisure facilities being planned for the town centre to help it cope with the planned 2000 new homes (about 5000 more people)?

In conjunction with SEC, Ealing Today will publish the replies.
