Water, Water Everywhere!

35,000 bottles for the Ealing Half Marathon

There's no reason to get thirsty during the Ealing Half Marathon - there will be a deluge of water available.

Danone Waters (UK & Ireland) Limited (DWUK) will provide 35,000 bottles of evian® to keep runners hydrated around the 13.1 mile course and at the finish line.

The Ealing-based company has been supporting the Ealing Half Marathon since the inaugural race took place in 2012. The company is also supplying volunteers at the event, and 20 members of staff will be taking part.

As in previous years, the Anglican churches alongside the running route will be manning the water stations with their congregations handing out the water bottles to the runners, actively showing their support for the event.

Water stations will be set up at St Peter’s, at the two-mile point; St Barnabas at four miles; St Stephen’s, at six miles; St Mary’s, Hanwell, at mile nine; and St John’s, Mattock Lane, when runners have a mile to go. The final station will be supported by volunteers from Danone Waters UK & Ireland Ltd. There will also be a fuel station for runners at St Christopher's on Bordars Road, just after mile seven.

Alex Valk, external communications manager at Danone Waters said: "Ealing Half Marathon is a brilliant community event which is growing in strength and popularity every year. We are proud to be supporting the race again in 2014 and wish all the runners the very best of luck with their challenge. We’d like to also give a massive thanks to the Ealing volunteers who will be handing out the water to thirsty runners around the course.”

Race director Kelvin Walker commented: “We are pleased to welcome evian® back on board as a sponsor for the Ealing Half Marathon, and we are very grateful for the support of the prestigious water brand. The runners will be provided with water at six water stations, ensuring they keep hydrated and motivated. I would also like to express a big thank you to the Anglican churches who have got fully behind the event again, showing true community spirit.

“Places are still available for the 2014 race, anyone wishing to be on the start line should go to the website and sign up as soon as possible.”

The award-winning Ealing Half Marathon is held on 28th September on fully closed roads, starting and finishing in West London’s Lammas Park. Registration is open with entry fees of £32 for affiliated runners and £34 for unaffiliated runners. All finishers receive a distinctive medal and an online e-goody bag after the race.

The Ealing Half Marathon attracts 6,000+ runners and was voted number one race for ‘best atmosphere in 2013’ by Runner’s World UK and ‘Best Half Marathon’ at The Running Awards 2014.
