A Runner's Moving Tribute To Ealing

'If you ever doubt there's good in the world- come to Ealing'

The seventh Ealing Half Marathon has come and gone, and whlist there will always be a few who may have felt inconvenienced by this annual one day event, the majority have nothing but praise.

Runner, Shainul Kassam posted a moving tribute on social media and has given permission for it to be published here.

Thank you Ealing

Thank you to everyone who came to support all the runners today at the Ealing Half. You were amazing! From the steel band to the dhol player, the water bearers, the sign holders, the cheerleaders, the neighbours, the bands in Pitshanger and Hanwell, the local businesses, the families who brought their little ones out with signs and high fives (I tried to catch as many as I could), the church handing out oranges in Hanwell, the family who turned up the speakers on their porch and played Eye of the Tiger, Tom and Jerry who ran most of the way with me (always a positive vibe when you hook up with a celebrity or two) and all the lovely tiny cherubs and their jelly babies of love.

Thank you to all who came and cheered or helped support us all. Thank you to the runners who inspired me all of you especially the Eagles and to my new hero Spencer the pace maker who caught me on the last mile and pushed me forward and encouraged me to dig deep deep and achieve a PB of 2 hours 9.

If you ever doubt there’s good in the world - come to Ealing.
