Ealing Cricket Club Launches £150,000 Pavilion Appeal
Seeking to restore historic building and upgrade other facilities

Ealing Cricket Club has launched a major fundraising appeal to safeguard the future of its Corfton Road pavilion. The 125-year-old building faces significant repair needs and rising costs associated with running one of West London’s most active community cricket hubs.
The pavilion, built in 1900 and central to the club’s identity for generations, has welcomed thousands of players, families and supporters through its doors. But after more than a century of continuous use, the building is now showing its age. Trustees say essential works are required to keep the pavilion safe, inclusive and fit for purpose for the next generation of cricketers.
To meet these needs, the club has launched a Crowdfunder campaign titled Protect the Future of ECC, inviting donations from members, supporters and the wider community. The appeal aims to raise around £150,000 to cover a series of urgent upgrades, including major external repairs, a kitchen refurbishment, new CCTV to meet licensing requirements, and a new accessible toilet. The club is also exploring the feasibility of installing an all-weather roof over the outdoor nets, subject to planning approval.
The works are broken down into five key projects:
• Pavilion exterior repairs and refurbishment – estimated £67,000
• Kitchen upgrade to meet modern health and safety standards – estimated £20,000
• CCTV installation to comply with licensing legislation – estimated £3,000
• Construction of a new disabled toilet at the rear of the clubhouse – estimated £35,000
• All-weather roof cover for the outdoor nets – estimated £25,000
Chair of Trustees David Holt said the appeal is essential to ensure the club can continue offering high-quality facilities for junior, women’s and men’s cricket. “The Trustees remain steadfastly committed to providing excellent facilities and coaching for both our senior and junior playing members,” he said. “But the cost of running a charitable organisation such as ours is escalating year on year. A fundraising appeal is now vital to ensure Ealing Cricket Club can continue to offer first-class facilities for many years to come.”
The club has a strong track record of successful fundraising. Over the past decade, two major appeals enabled the development of Popesfield—now a thriving second venue for matches and junior training—and the installation of eight all-weather nets at Corfton Road. Both projects have become central to the club’s growth and reputation as one of the leading cricket clubs in London.
This latest appeal comes at a time when participation in cricket across Ealing continues to rise, particularly among young people and women. Trustees say the pavilion and training facilities must keep pace with demand if the club is to remain a welcoming and inclusive space for the whole community.
Alongside public donations, the club is also seeking support from sponsors and applying for grants from the Sports Council, the ECB and Middlesex CCC.
