Hanwell Hootie Festival Online
Music to be live streamed on May 9th
There was huge disappointment when the Hanwell Hootie team had to join with other UK events and announce this years music extravaganza would be cancelled.
The popular free festival, commemorating local legend, Jim Marshall, has been growing year on year and attracts thousands. This year was set to be the biggest to date with hundreds of musicians playing to packed pubs and outdoor venues in W7 and area.
However, the lockdown restrictions mean it can't take place in it usual format but organisers have found an alternative. They are tapping into technology and producing the ‘Hanwell Hootie Isolation festival’ on May 9th.
Hanwell Hootie Director, Andy McRobbie, says:
''Kick off will be at 4 pm with live stream performances with some of the artist that were due to perform. This will all take place on Facebook. Just turn up on our FB main site and you will see the live stream happening.
''During the ‘festival’ we shall also be accepting voluntary text and online donations. Half of the money raised would go towards the artist who have performed as its musicians that have been hit particularly bad with no prospect of income from live shows.
'' The other half will go towards the Hootie as we are a free festival, not for profit, run by volunteers and a registered CIC. As we are free attend and always pay all bands, we rely on donations to stay afloat and cover the huge costs of putting on a festival. ''
