'Look For The Helpers'

Despite general unease there are increasing examples of good samaritans

Many local events have been impacted by the current crisis - parkrun which attracts thousands at Gunnersbury and Northala every Saturday and all performances at Questors and the Classic Cinema Club have been cancelled.

The current chaotic scenario which is changing daily is undoubtedly causing huge pressure and worry for many. However there are also plenty of examples of good works and good samaritans.

Residents have already stepped forward to offer help to their neighbours and local traders and businesses are doing their bit too, either through transporting goods in their vans or in the case of one restaurant providing free meals to the old and vulnerable. Rangrez is one such:

With the closure of pubs and theatres many self-employed artists fearful over the loss of earnings are taking to streaming concerts online, some providng options for viewers to contribute.

Meanwhile, a group of local musicians in Ealing have joined forces with the aim to use the power of music to help those who are having to self isolate. They intend to visit homes of those who aren't allowed out and sing outside.

Amy Tan who set up the COVID-19 AID- Musicians for Ealing group says, '' We believe in the power of music and the ability it has to heal, comfort and give joy.''

If you - or know of others who are helping during this difficult time or have information of how people can help etc please send details and we will try and update.
