Northfield Councillor Offers Community Support

David Millican writes urging anyone needing help to make contact

It's a gorgeous Easter weekend and I hope that you are enjoying it safely. I am sad to have heard of those who have experienced the Covid-19 virus, so we must continue to Stay at Home, and Keep our Distance if we need to go out.

Our lovely local parks are busy this weekend so I urge you to act responsibly if you visit them - runners to keep their distance from walkers; dogs to be kept on leads; no picnics; no football.

Ealing Council wants to keep the parks open but if we don’t act responsibly then regrettably they will be closed.

It was so heartening to join neighbours on Thursday out clapping our thanks to all the key workers in the NHS, the police, to those keeping our shops stocked with food, our pharmacies with medicines and so many more. Thank you to each and every one.

Supporting each other

I have been approached with numerous requests from residents asking how they can offer to help or how they can receive help.

Ealing Council has established EalingTogether as collaboration between local community and voluntary groups, the council, resident associations, faith groups and concerned residents. I would encourage you to take a look if you need to be supported yourself, or are able to offer support to others

020 8825 7170 (office hours only)

EalingTogether is working in line with the government’s requirements that we Stay at Home and only go out if absolutely necessary.

It is exciting that a number of residents have already set up mutual aid groups in their immediate locality, as they will best know their neighbours who might need some extra support.

Please also feel free to contact me directly if you seek help. Numerous people have contacted me seeking help, mostly with their shopping. As a local Councillor, I have lived in and represented our community for a long time, so I know many people throughout our community. Hence I have been able to match up those seeking help with those offering. Thank you to all those of you who have already provided this help.

So please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are looking for support at this difficult time or just have a query.

Our local Northfields Police have been out and about in our community and in the parks. Please see (below) the crime prevention advice reproduced from their recent newsletter

Meanwhile please Stay at Home to Protect the NHS and Save Lives.
