Out With The Old...

Is it time for a clearout?

Happy New Year!

If (like me) you need to have a good household declutter there are a number of options worth considering.

Give it away

A collecting bin will be placed outside the YMCA site in St Mary's Road to allow people to drop off their unwanted Christmas gifts.

Gifts and items donated will be sold at the charity shop at 83, The Broadway, West Ealing, to help house young people at night and help them move on to independent living.

Other local charities depend on donations so it would help them if you could fill a bag and take it to your nearest good cause shop - there are plenty throughout Ealing.

Many are unable to collect but call individual branches to check. There are two charities that collect furniture in the borough, but only if the item is in a condition suitable enough that you would pass it onto a family member or friend. To find out more, call Furniture Community Store on (020) 8969 3332 or Acton Recycling on (020) 8896 1248.

Earn some extra money

Why not sell your unwanted goods? Advertise for free on EalingToday ..current offers include a car and a rocking horse.

There are also a number of swapping website where you can switch items including clothes, cars, books or even houses!

Freecycle

Ealing freecycle has over 15,000 members and is open to all who want to "recycle" something rather than throw it away. If you are having a clearout  the old saying 'one person's junk...' most certainly applies here. It couldn't be easier - simply post on the board and await replies. You can also find everything from pianos, clothes and prams to front doors, boxes and blenders.

Non profit groups can participate too. Everything posted is free. You will have to join Yahoo to take part - read more here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ealingfreecycle/

Can you help others?

If you a a professional de-clutterer/ organiser or cleaner be sure to add your details to Ealing Today's directory - you will be much in demand!

If you have any other ideas for decluttering please send them to editor@ealingtoday.co.uk
