The Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop has announced it will remain open until Thursday 18 December, giving residents extra time to purchase festive cards in support of local charities.

Co-founder Sue Green explained the decision: “With more and more cards being delivered by hand these days, it makes sense for us to stay open beyond the last posting date for Christmas.”

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the shop, which was founded in 1985. Local MP Dr Rupa Huq visited recently to join in the celebrations. Sue Green said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome Rupa back to the Shop. She’s been a great supporter over the years.”

Since opening, the all-volunteer initiative has raised close to £1 million for nearly 50 charities.

For the 2025 festive season, more than 200 card designs are on sale, supporting the local branches of 32 charities including:

  • Major national organisations such as Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation, Save the Children, and Alzheimer’s Society.
  • Local and specialist groups including Ealing Samaritans, Meadow House Hospice, and Friends of Hammersmith Hospital.
  • International causes such as Action Aid, CAFOD, and Book Aid International.

The shop is based at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway, Ealing (W5 2XA) and is open daily from 10am to 4pm until Thursday, 18 December.

Organisers say the extension ensures residents can continue to support good causes while picking up cards for hand delivery in the final days before Christmas.
