Ealing’s long-running Charity Christmas Card Shop has officially opened for its 40th festive season, celebrating four decades of volunteer-led fundraising and nearly £1 million in total sales for charitable causes.
The milestone was marked on 31 October with a visit from Ealing Mayor Councillor Anthony Kelly, who joined representatives from participating charities at the Church of Christ the Saviour on New Broadway. “It’s lovely that community efforts like this continue, supporting so many charities with the help of its fantastic volunteers,” said Mayor Kelly.
Founded in 1985 by Sue Green and a small team of volunteers, the shop has remained committed to returning 100% of its proceeds to charity. “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 40-year anniversary,” said Sue. “Thanks to our fantastic helpers who come back every year, we’ve raised close to £1 million for around 100 different charities.”
This year, the shop features cards from 32 charities, alongside seasonal items such as calendars, wrapping paper, gift tags, and postage stamps. More than 200 card designs are available, supporting organisations including Age UK Ealing, Cancer Research UK, Ealing Samaritans, Freedom From Torture, RNLI, and Save the Children.
