Local Tory Candidate Charged With Criminal Damage (UPDATE)

Police have arrested a local Conservative candidate and charged him with criminal damage following an incident outside the Labour party campaign office in Greenford.

It's alleged Eamonn “Frank” Kilduff - who is standing in the council election in North Greenford - tore down campaign signs for parliamentary candidate Steve Pound and threatened party workers.

Kilduff was recently a member of the Labour Party but switched to Conservative to contest the local election.

Labour has written a formal complaint to the Returning Officer for the elections, as well as calling on the Conservative Party to suspend Kilduff as a candidate.

Eamonn 'Frank' Kilduff, 57, a managing director of a textiles company, from Currey Road, Greenford has been charged with criminal damage and breaching section 5 of the Public Order Act.

He will appear on bail at Ealing Magistrates' Court on 2 June.

A Conservative Spokesman said:

'' Mr Kilduff has been suspended from the Conservative Party pending an investigation into the events.''
