Two Jailed For Stealing Elderly Woman's Savings

The men claimed to be from Ealing Council and took hundreds of pounds

Two men have been jailed for their parts in a distraction burglary of an elderly woman in Northolt.

Patrick Rooney, 26, of High Street, Hemel Hempstead and James Doran, 42 of Hockwell Ring, Luton received a combined 876 day prison sentence.

On 19 April 2012, Rooney and Doran were in the Northolt area when they approached an elderly lady at her home address, claiming to be from Ealing Council.

They said they were there to fix her fence and whilst inside her property, they stole £680 of her savings. Both offenders were subsequently identified and arrested.

At Isleworth Crown Court, both pleaded guilty to artifice burglary.

Detective Sergeant Mark Hunt from Ealing Borough CID said 'We are really pleased with this sentencing. These men brazenly targeted a vulnerable victim, stealing her savings. It is a great result that these men are now in jail'.
