Residents of Ealing are being invited to the Broadway Shopping Centre this weekend to help paint an eco-mural. Between noon and 4pm on Saturday 6 November opposite Footlocker the collaborative effort aims to demonstrate what can be achieved by a community working together.

The event has been organised jointly by Paint Your Planet, Ealing Broadway, Ealing Council and ActForEaling. Anyone who can hold a paintbrush is encouraged to paint the mural which will be raising awareness of the “ActForEaling ten steps” which aim to combat climate change and restore biodiversity in the borough

Five days later, on 11 November, COP26 visitors will learn what Ealing borough has achieved to promote climate positive action and see a film of people painting the eco-mural.

The film will be shown to attendees at the conference in Glasgow at the ActForEaling stand.

Paint Your Planet Managing Director, Cedric Boston-Griffiths said, “As an enterprise whose passion and purpose is to inspire eco-positive messaging through the visual arts, we cannot wait to see the creativity of Ealing unleashed for the benefit of the local environment.

“The Paint Your Planet team has worked on dozens of mural projects around the world, but the most uplifting and exciting are always the ones created with a driven community like Ealing. Communities want to practically beautify their local surroundings, and this eco-mural - a form of creative expression which also informs - will not only be an exciting addition to Ealing but will also be a fabulous statement showing how local people are committed to a more sustainable future.”

Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway said, “Ealing Broadway is thrilled to be hosting the eco-mural for Ealing. Across the centre, we’ve been working hard to consistently find new ways of becoming even more environmentally friendly. We are a zero waste to landfill centre as all our general waste is sent to a plant to be recovered as electricity and we’re proud that in line with ActForEaling’s ten steps, four years ago we began switching our lighting to LEDs to cut our energy use. Our local community is very important to us, now and in the future, so we want to do what we can to contribute to a more sustainable Ealing. We see supporting the team at ActForEaling as another fantastic way to do this.”

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
