Police Investigate Homophobic Assault In Blondin Park

A young man who was subject to homophobic abuse in Blondin Park has taken to the social media platform Tiktok to appeal for help finding a man who viciously attacked his friend after she intervened.

Thousands of people have already expressed their disgust and offered support on the account of Charlie Lee who explained what happened on Saturday 10 July in the post shown below which contains some swearing.

Police say they were called at around 5.30am to a report of a homophobic assault in Blondin Park.

Three women and a man were walking on the path near the Blondin Avenue exit when one of three men sat on a bench shouted a homophobic remark.

One of the women asked him to stop but the main suspect  – described as an Asian male with dark curly hair with a patchy beard under his chin, wearing a dark/black jacket, blue trousers and black trainers - sprayed her and friends with some water.

He then grabbed the 20-year-old by the hair and punched her in the nose. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as not life threatening or life changing.

The other suspect is described as a white male with ginger hair wearing grey jeans, dark coat and red, white and dark colour Nike Air Jordans. He also had a scooter.  The third suspect is also described as an Asian male wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers.

The three made off towards the exit towards Blondin Avenue.

Police say ''All our communities should be able to live free from harassment or abuse. If anyone has information about this or any other hate crime we would urge them to come forward.''
