The Tesco Express store in the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre closed for refurbishment on 28 October.

The supermarket chain says that there will be a limited reopening of the branch next Monday (6 November) with a full reopening on 11 December.

It is not known if the closure is part of a planned programme of refurbishment or is in response to specific issues with the unit. However, Tesco has dismissed reports that it is related to the shutting of the nearby Ealing Central Library saying categorically that its Ealing store does not have a pest issue.

A Tesco Spokesperson said, “Our Ealing Broadway Express is being refurbished to improve the shopping experience for customers. The store will reopen at reduced capacity on 6th of November and will be at full capacity on 11th December. We look forward to welcoming customers at the refurbished store in due course.”

The store was controversially rebranded as an Express store having been a Tesco Metro in 2021. ‘Express’ is the chain’s convenience store brand and generally it charges higher prices than at Metro-branded outlets.
