Ealing Central Library repens its doors tomorrow
Ealing Central Library is opening its doors to the public for the first time since undergoing a £2million transformation.
The new facility will be unveiled on Tuesday, 29 July, when users can catch a first glimpse of the refurbishment.
New comfortable furniture, attractive wall decorations and improved lighting are set to make the library more user-friendly and enjoyable to use. There are also 20,000 new books and 85 public computers with free internet access, as well as a number of other attractions.
To celebrate the opening, there will be children’s activities taking place throughout the day on Tuesday, and there will also be a magician entertaining youngsters in the afternoon.
Councillor Phil Taylor, Cabinet Member for Customer and Community Services, said: “I have had a preview of the new library and it looks great. A lot of thought has gone into it and it has been transformed into a much brighter and more usable facility. I know the staff have worked hard to turn this project around after technical problems delayed it. I’m pleased we can now get our hands on our new library and I would like to thank everyone for their patience while the work was being done.”
The library was due to reopen in January 2008 but works were delayed due to 'structural problems with the building'.
Skyline Office Interiors won the contract to renovate the library with a £2.3 million tender.
