Greenford Carnival to Open Ealing Summer Festivals

Let's hope it starts to look like summer! Saturday 2nd July

Ravenor Park will come alive with the sights and sounds of the summer as Greenford Carnival opens Ealing Summer Festivals 2011 on Saturday, 2 July.

Festival goers will be entertained with performances by soul man Omar, R&B singer Shonanis and The Iconics. With face painting, a funfair and live entertainment from 12 acts on the acoustic stage, there will be something for everyone.

Leader of the council, Councillor Julian Bell, said: “What a great start to the summer – there are some fantastic live performances planned and lots of fun stuff for people of all ages to enjoy. The carnival promises to be an excellent start to the Summer Festivals.”

Soul singer, Omar, said: “I am really pleased to have been asked to perform at this year’s carnival. Events like this really bring local people together and give visitors a chance to see what’s great about the town.

There is always a real buzz about performing at grass roots events and seeing families and friends celebrating being part of one community.” Greenford Carnival, midday to 7pm, Ravenor Park, Greenford UB6 £2 entry, children 12 and under free For more information about the festivals and a full list of line-ups (listed performers are subject to change), log on to www.ealing.gov.uk/ealingsummer
