Firefighters Rescue Cat in Roof of House Near Hanger Hill

A curious cat who got stuck behind a chimney breast in the roof a house in Ealing has been rescued by London Fire Brigade.
Mus had found her way into the roof void of her house in Brunswick Gardens near the Hanger Hill Gyratory.
Station Officer Nathan Beeby said, “The cat had been trapped for around 24 hours and had probably gotten herself stuck after squeezing through a small space on the roof behind the chimney breast.
“We could hear her moving from one void to another and managed to coax her towards an area where an extraction fan was.
“Crews opened up the extractor to expose a small hole and Firefighter Scott Keenan gently pulled her through and safely reunited her with her owners.”

A fire engine from Park Royal Fire Station attended the scene when they were called at 6.45pm and it took just over an hour to retrieve Mus.
The Fire Brigade says that the work of a firefighter is varied and involves all sorts of different incidents, and they are ready, willing and able to assist distressed or injured animals.
The last thing firefighters want is for people to put themselves at risk rescuing an animal themselves – but the Brigade does encourage people to call the RSPCA in the first instance and they will assist if specialist equipment is required, as it was in this case.
