A woman has died after a fire took hold of a house in Greenford this Monday (15 March).

The Fire Brigade was called at 11.22am and were still trying to bring the fire under control up to 3pm. Crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the evening.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a man was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The second floor of a mid-terraced house was destroyed by fire. Part of the first and ground floors of the building were also damaged by the blaze.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended the incident with fire crews from Northolt, Harrow, Southall, Ealing and Park Royal fire stations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
