Police warn of increase in burglaries in Ealing
A 97 year old woman has been robbed of £500 and an 84 year old had £50 stolen by a gang working in the W5 area.
Police say there has been a recent rise in burglaries across Ealing borough, and residents are asked to be cautious of callers claiming to be insulation and damp proof installers.
The latest reported incidents happened on Saturday (24th October) and are thought to have been carried out by the same three men.
On both occasions, the men claimed that there had been an explosion in the area and asked the elderly women to fill containers with water, because their water supply was going to be cut off.
The men entered the households, having convinced their victims into believing that that they were working for a “Water Board” and that it was an emergency.
The first incident happened at an address on Meadvale Road where they stole £50 from the 84 year old. The second incident happened on Hillcroft Crescent, where they made off with £500 which the 97 year old woman kept in a wallet in her bedroom.
Both incidents took place between 17:45 hrs and 18:10 hrs.
Police urge everyone to be vigillant and check I.D before allowing anyone in the house.

Police descriptions
All 3 suspects are described as white males.
Suspect one is described as 15 - 17 year old, around 157 cm tall with short brown hair, wearing beige jacket and trousers.
Suspect two is described as 25 - 30 year old, around 165 cm tall.
Suspect three is described as 40 - 50 year old, wearing a thin blue jacket and a light blue soft hat.
