Ealing Boy Killed by Air Rifle

Five year old Jonathan Cooke dies in tragic accident

A young Ealing boy has died after being shot in the head with an air rifle whilst his family was visiting friends in Wiltshire.

He has been named as Jonathan Cooke aged five. Jonathon's mother said he was killed in a "tragic accident" and described him as a "gorgeous, cheeky, beautiful, bright little bundle of joy".

A spokesman for the police said: "We can confirm that following a call at 12.15pm yesterday, officers attended a property in the Fovant area of Tisbury to reports that a young child had been injured with an air rifle. The child was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol but sadly died yesterday afternoon."

The police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting but say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
