Age UK Ealing To Hold Jubilee Big Lunch

Event at Greenford Community Centre will celebrate the work of the organisation

Age UK Ealing hosts activities at the Greenford Community Centre

Members of Age UK Ealing's community will be attending Big Lunch to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee and the work that the organisation does in the community.

The older adults who regularly access its services, will be joined by supporters from across Ealing including local councillors, MPs and the newly-elected Mayor of Ealing.

It is taking place on Wednesday 1 June from 12-3pm and Age UK Ealing says it is particularly looking forward to celebrating Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee with its service users, many of whom have strong personal memories of the Queen’s coronation.

The event, will also provide an opportunity to acknowledge the work of its volunteers during National Volunteers Week. One of the group’s volunteers is herself aged 83 and has been working with the organisation for over 20 years.

Age UK Ealing’s Big Jubilee Lunch has been made possible through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and local sponsors who include Go View London, Ealing Hearing Centre, Galaxy Real Estate and Ealing Distillery.

There will also be a wide range of local businesses and organisations on hand providing food and entertainment:

• Flowers by Ebere in Northfields Avenue, who have created a Jubilee Celebration Bouquet with £10 from every arrangement donated to Age UK Ealing
• Papillon Cafe, who will be donating a percentage of profits from a special Jubilee cake
• The Cinnamon on the Lane cafe, who are supporting with cakes and donations
• Musical entertainment from the Love2sing Community Choir
• An ice-cream van (as requested by service users!)
• Cupcakes created especially for the occasion by The Cakehouse,
• Additional food and drink supplied by Tesco in Ealing Broadway

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
