Ealing Choral Society spread some festive love
Ealing Choral Society's carol concert on Saturday 15 December at St Barnabas Church raised a massive £2400 for Contact a Family, a charity in Ealing and Southall that supports families with disabled children.
The 70 strong choir conducted by Jonathan Williams sang traditional as well as less well-known carols to an audience of 300 people.
Journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant, Christopher Wickenden of Haven Funeral Services (sponsor of the concert programme) and members of families supported by the charity were among those giving seasonal readings.
Contact a Family supports families with children with any disability, additional needs, life-limiting condition or complex health need. Their mission and purpose is to remove the barriers imposed by society which prevent families with disabled children/children with additional needs achieving their full potential, and to empower these families to live the lives they want to lead.
Jasbinder Rooprah, Development Officer for the charity said: "We very much appreciate the society making Contact a Family the beneficiary of the charity concert. The money raised will directly benefit families with disabled children in Ealing and Southall in 2013."
The evening was rounded off with mince pies donated by Waitrose in west Ealing and mulled wine after the concert.
