A male pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Southall in the early hours of Tuesday morning (4 May).

The collision occurred on Lady Margaret Road shortly before 3.15am.

The victim, believed to be aged 49, was found with serious injuries and a London Air Ambulance helicopter was called. Despite the efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at 4.12am.

The driver did not stop at the scene but the police managed to locate him and he was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The police closed Lady Margaret Road in both directions and advised motorists to use alternative routes.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has not yet spoken to the police is asked to make themselves known by calling 101 and providing the reference CAD603/04MAY.
