Council say anyone overcharged for permit will receive cheque in post

Chiswick residents who were overcharged for their parking permits will now automatically receive a refund.

After been contacted by ChiswickW4.com over the matter Council Officers convened a meeting at which it was decided to drop the requirement of the parking department for residents to apply for a refund with supporting documentation.

A spokesman for the Council said, "We are very sorry that some Chiswick residents have been overcharged for their parking permits. The situation came about because some residents applied and paid for new CPZ permits before 1 December, when the new charges were introduced. We are now reviewing the payments for November 2003 and will be sending out cheques to those residents affected as soon as possible. We have reviewed the procedures relating to this problem and we can assure residents that this issue should not happen again"

The Council are hopeful that anybody entitled to a refund should receive a cheque within the next two weeks.

Permit charges in Chiswick remain significantly higher than other areas of the borough despite the admission of a senior councillor that this differential is "unjustified."
