Raising funds with 100 miles of Ride London Surrey

On Sunday 2nd August, The Brentford FC Community Sports Trust team saddled up and took part in the Ride London-Surrey 100.

Joining over 25,000 riders, the Trust team cycled through the streets of London and over the hills of Surrey to raise money for charitable causes.

Two months of training, and a specially commissioned BFC CST shirt, meant that not only did the Trust team complete the 100m ride but they did it in style

Team BFC CST, which included three peloton teams and six individual riders, were raising money to support the Trust’s valuable work in the community. With a target set at £10,000, Trust Executive Lee Doyle hopes that the money raised can be used to invest in the creation of a new trainee position at the Trust.

Connecting members of the Trust, Club and their corporate partners – the Trust team welcomed a variety of personnel with a wide-ranging level of cycling experience.

Here is what some of the team thought about the big day:

Kevin O’Connor, Former First Team captain and Current Development coach said "It was tough but really enjoyable. It was the furthest I have ever cycled and I definitely was helped around by the other members of our team. The atmosphere was amazing especially finishing at Buckingham Palace – it makes me consider doing something like this again… although I think I need to recover first".
Nity Raj, Brentford FC Director said "I had a fantastic ride on Sunday at the Surrey 100. What a privilege to ride with King Kev and the rest of the BFC and Trust team. The weather was glorious and although the climbs were tough, it was incredibly satisfying to get to the top of Box Hill. Amazing support from Londoners all-round the course… and especially happy to hear a few cheers for wearing a Brentford FC branded cycling jersey!"
Lee Doyle, Chief Executive at Brentford FC CST added, "It was a brilliant day spent with a fantastic group of people; the camaraderie developed between the team is why we all love sport. Credit to the organisers and those who developed the Ride 100 for a sporting event that the nation can be proud of. Bring on next year!"
The Trust thanks everyone who has supported the event, be it as a rider or one of our sponsors including Willmott Dixon, JLL, The Window Centre, Reliable Networks, Taylor Wessing, Galileo Homes and SmartOdds. Also a special thank you to Evans Cycles (Brentford High Street) who supplied bikes for some of our peloton riders.

They are still taking donations so if you would like to help them race over the line please do so now!

Team BFC CST is hopeful of securing more places in the 2016 Ride London-Surrey 100. As soon as the application and balloting process is compete they will post details about how you can get involved.
