A new playground has been installed at Robin Grove Recreation Ground in Brentford, enhancing local amenities along the Grand Union Canal. The upgrade was delivered by Hounslow Council in partnership with Lampton Services Greenspace, with work starting in May. The new facility was scheduled to be opened in August but was delayed by contractual supplier issues.

The refurbished play area includes a range of equipment designed for children of various ages, alongside new seating that offers views across the canal. The site’s location—adjacent to Robin Grove and near Brentford Dock—makes it a popular green corridor for walkers, cyclists, and families accessing the towpath or nearby residential estates.

Robin Grove Recreation Ground is a compact but well-used green space situated between the canal and Robin Grove, with access points from Augustus Close and Dock Road.

The site has historically offered informal play and seating, but lacked modern equipment until this year’s upgrade. The new facilities aim to improve accessibility and encourage greater use by families and young children, particularly during weekends and school holidays.

The playground installation forms part of Hounslow Council’s wider programme to enhance green infrastructure and recreational spaces. The borough oversees over 160 open spaces, including:

  • 29 allotment sites
  • 9 cemeteries
  • 4 churchyards

These are managed in collaboration with Lampton Services Greenspace, local Friends Of groups, and environmental charities. The Council continues to invite public feedback on park improvements, consultations, and future projects through its online engagement hub.
