Residents ask councillors to address matter
Locals saw red recently when pollution levels in Acton reached unprecedented levels.
Residents already had concerns about pollution levels which you can access via the calendar section of the ActonW3.com homepage.
The matter recently came to a head when record levels of PM10 particles were recorded on Horn Lane, close to the notorious Waste Transfer Site.
As a result, there is now a groundswell of support for local meetings to address the problem of pollution in Acton.
With a number of meetings planned around the borough over the coming months to discuss the Local Development Framework, (see link right for further details), the time appears to be ripe for residents to have a say in the future of Acton.
The Acton LDF meeting is on October 21st at St Mary’s Church Hall, but since the matter is so important, some residents are asking for it to be discussed with as many local councillors as possible before then so that locals get a chance to air their views and state their concerns. Residents are hoping that this will happen at the next Ward Forum planned for Acton Central at St Mary's Church Hall on October 6th. If you would like this matter to be addressed at that meeting, email your ward councillors (see box, right for Acton Central email addresses).
The West London Waste Plan (WLWP) is part of the LDF. It will address the disposal/recycling of all waste in the area up to 2025 and will identify appropriate sites for particular waste treatment facilities.
Within Central Acton and East Acton wards lie Park Royal Industrial Estate, Horn Lane Railway Yards and Waste Transfer Site and Old Oak Common Industrial areas. These could all be prime locations for consideration by the WLWP.
