A new Reformer Pilates studio has opened at Acton Centre, offering residents access to one of the fastest-growing fitness trends in the UK. The studio, which officially launched on Saturday (21 March), features 12 specialist Reformer beds and is hosting two weeks of free taster sessions to introduce the equipment and classes to the local community.

The new facility was created by converting a former multi-purpose room within the centre. Reformer Pilates uses a machine with adjustable resistance and a moving platform, allowing workouts to be tailored to different fitness levels. The exercise is known for strengthening the core, improving flexibility and supporting rehabilitation, with sessions ranging from gentle, low-impact movements to more intense full-body workouts.

Phil Edwards, contract manager at Everyone Active, which operates the centre on behalf of Ealing Council, said: “We’re delighted to bring Reformer to Acton Centre and make this fantastic workout accessible to our local community.

“It’s a really versatile form of exercise that can benefit people at all stages of their fitness journey, whether they’re trying something new, looking to build strength and flexibility, or recovering from injury.

“One of the great things about bringing Reformer into a leisure centre setting is the strong community feel these spaces already have. We want to create a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable coming along, trying something new and being active together, while keeping sessions affordable and accessible for local residents.”

The new studio is part of a wider £2.5 million investment programme across Ealing’s leisure facilities, following Everyone Active’s new 10-year contract with the council, which began on 1 March. Acton Centre is set to receive further upgrades this year, including a significantly expanded main gym with a larger free weights area and improvements to gym and studio spaces.

Other leisure centres across the borough will also benefit from expanded gyms, upgraded equipment and refreshed studios designed to create more modern and welcoming environments. The Reformer studio is the first of several planned enhancements aimed at improving facilities and broadening the range of activities available to residents.
