Local Police Officer Bids a Fond Farewell

A familiar face in Acton Town Centre’s Safer Neighbourhood Team is moving on, as Police Constable Dave Loveday prepares to leave his post for a new role training incoming Metropolitan Police recruits. PC Loveday, who has served on the Acton Town Centre SNT for several years, said the transition marks “a moment for reflection” and spoke of his pride in the work carried out alongside colleagues, partners and the local community.
In a message to residents, he said his time in Acton had been “professionally rewarding and personally memorable,” adding that he had “thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the role.” Neighbourhood policing, he said, offered a unique chance to build genuine relationships with the people officers serve — from residents and businesses to schools, community groups and partner agencies.
Throughout his tenure, he worked on long‑term community concerns, anti‑social behaviour, support for vulnerable individuals and joint initiatives aimed at improving public safety. He said it had been “incredibly rewarding to see the difference that dedicated neighbourhood policing can make.”
PC Loveday also confirmed that he will be stepping back from posting updates on Met Engage, the platform he has used to share crime prevention advice, highlight policing activity and promote community events. Responsibility for future updates will now pass to PC Weston, who remains part of the Town Centre Policing Team.
“I have greatly enjoyed using the platform to highlight local policing activity,” Loveday said. “I hope the posts have helped strengthen communication between the police and the communities we serve.”
Although he is leaving the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Loveday will not be disappearing from Acton entirely. In his new role as a Tutor Constable, he will be training new recruits — and expects to return to the area with officers under his guidance.
“I am likely to be back in Acton, so though I am leaving it won’t be the end of my time here,” he said.
